How do I cross-reference from an anthology while keeping the orginal publication information?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under essay anthology | 1 Comment »

My instructor wants the class to cross-reference sources from Short Story Criticism but keep the orginal publication info. He said he will explain on Monday, but I want to try to get this done.

I know how to create the citation for the anthology as well has make the cross references to essays in the anthology. However, I can’t figure out how to work in the orginal publication info whithout letting the reader know its reprinted from the Anthology. Typing in the reprint information for each citation seems to defeat the point of cross referencing, so that can not be it.

Thanks!
If this is impossible, I will just wait till Monday. I may have misinterpreted his instructions.

Cross-referencing: If you cite more than one essay from the same edited collection, the MLA indicates that it is optional to cross-reference within your works cited list in order to avoid writing out the publishing information for each separate essay. You should consider this option if you have many references from one text. To do so, include a separate entry for the entire collection listed by the editor’s name. For individual essays from that collection, simply list the author’s name, the title of the essay, the editor’s last name, and the page numbers. For example:

L’Eplattenier, Barbara. "Finding Ourselves in the Past: An Argument for Historical Work on WPAs." Rose and Weiser 131-40.

Peeples, Tim. "’Seeing’ the WPA With/Through Postmodern Mapping." Rose and Weiser 153-167.

Rose, Shirley K, and Irwin Weiser, eds. The Writing Program Administrator as Researcher. Portsmouth, NH: Heinemann, 1999.

I need responses for an anthology of student work! How do I do it?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under anthology | 1 Comment »

My school has always ran "Trails West," and its fabrication has always been handled by an entire class; however, this year a fellow student and I have been graced witht the entire responsibility. WGHS is fairly small, but this anthology has always been huge. Aminda and I have posted countless flyers and have even made announcements saying that we were in need of any artwork/poetry/songs/whatever that any students/teachers may have. So, I suppose my question is: How do we get a response?

Start a club that meets at lunchtime. Students will join and help you with the editorial chores.

What topic should I do my poetry anthology on?

Posted by admin on December 27th, 2009 and filed under poetry anthology | 4 Comments »

I was going to do it on family, but I can’t find any poems that would be challenging to write an appreciation on.

It has to be in in a week.
I have to find 10-12, then write an appreciation for 2.

Any ideas?
Not seasons, the weather, love,

i know it may sound sad
ut i know from personal experience it is so easy to do your poetry anthology on depression
depressing poems are easy to find and write and evoke strong emotions
