What’s up??

After releasing her bestselling anthology Reflections last year,

Growing Pains is Mary’s first CD of new material since The

Breakthrough debuted at #1 in 2005, selling over 700,000

copies its first week — the best opening week for a solo R&B

female artist in SoundScan history. The album’s first single,

"Be Without You," also made chart history by holding down the

#1 spot on the Billboard R&B charts for a record breaking 16

straight weeks; making it the longest-running No. 1 song on

the R&B chart in over 40 years. Mary led all artists with eight

2007 Grammy nominations for the landmark album, and she

took home honors for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance,

Best R&B Song (both for "Be Without You"), and Best R&B Album.
After earning three Grammy Awards, she

continued her award show domination by

winning nine Billboard Music Awards, two

American Music Awards, two BET Awards,

two NAACP Image Awards, and a Soul Train

Award. The Breakthrough lived up to its name

selling over seven million copies worldwide.

GCSE English revision, anthology?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under essay anthology | 1 Comment »

For part of my english gcse i have to be able to annotate poems. We got given anthologys in class, and from them, we have annotated about 15 poems.
In the exam, two poems will come up, which will need to be annotated, then write an essay comparing them both.
What would be the best way to revise these annotations?

i think u will be given a clean anthology in the exam so just read through and through the poems u have annotated and when u read them in the exam u might suddenly remember that specific part as u have read it many times.

best short story anthologies?

I was wondering what are some of the more celebrated short story anthologies. Norton? The O.Henry Prize short stories? Great American Classics series?

Norton, definitely. Also Heath. ("The Heath Anthology of _____ Literature", e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Heath-Anthology-American-Literature-Nineteenth/dp/0618532986/sr=8-3/qid=1172617438/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/105-5498501-7931618?ie=UTF8&s=books )

Beatles album help..?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under anthology album | 3 Comments »

I was thinking of making a video of all the wonderful albums the Beatles have made and I have 3 questions.

#1: Am I missing any albums? I have…..

Past Masters 1 and 2
Anthology 1, 2 and 3
Magical Mystery Tour
Yellow Submarine
A Hard Day’s Night
Help!
Abbey Road
Rubber Soul
Please, Please Me
Love Me Do
Sgt. Peppers
White Album
Let It Be
Revolver
Beatles For Sale
1

#2: Can you give me the order of when they made the albums?

Example:

Past Masters :19__

and so on…

#3: What song should I use?

Thanks! : )

1) You’re missing With The Beatles… and I think Love Me Do is just a song not an album. Also the Yellow Submarine movie soundtrack. There’s also Live At The BBC if you want to use that.

2) The order of just the original album are:
- Please Please Me (1963)
- With The Beatles (1963)
- A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
- Beatles For Sale (1965)
- Help! (1965)
- Rubber Soul (1965)
- Revolver (1966)
- Magical Mystery Tour (1967)
- Yellow Submarine (movie soundtrack) (1967)
- Sgt. Pepper’s (1967)
- The White Album (1968)
- Abbey Road (1969)
- Let It Be (Released in 1970, but was actually recorded before Abbey Road)

- There’s plenty of songs you could use. Maybe "In My Life" or from Abbey Road "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End". "All You Need Is Love" would be good too.

Good Luck. :)

What is a good anthology on or introduction to ethics and ethical theories?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under anthology | 3 Comments »

Why do you recommend it? Give me some background.

greek mythology?

the gods deal with lust and sex and violence and anger which are all of questionable ethical-ness.

and same with shakespeare stuff.

and the bible, at least the old testament. with that you could talk about how ethics have changed. some of the first stories are about super corrupt things, like women being mistreated. but it wasnt considered unethical back when it was written since women had such a low stature

SPOKEN WORD: “LIVING WAGES!” (A poem YOU can relate to)

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under poem anthology | 8 Comments »

SPOKEN WORD: Too many giant multi-billion dollar corporations built up on the power of legacy. There’s just no way for us to catch up, you see. Not with things like NEPOTISM, CORPORATE BAILOUTS, and FREEBIES, and especially favors like, “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.” When will I ever hear that line? This is my original spoken word poetry. I hope you enjoy.

This poem is an excerpt from my upcoming poetry anthology, “PhilosoFlow: I Could Be Wrong, But I Doubt It”. I have already published two poetry anthologies, since the filming of this particular video.
