I’ve finished a suspense story about a family tragedy. No gratuitous scenes or violent scenes.
It’s about a young couple who cannot have a child, and so decide to adopt one. And then tragedy strikes when the mother dies under mysterious circumstances…
Which magazine or upcoming short story anthology might publish this story? Give me a few titles! Thank you!
Check Duotrope’s for markets–they have a webform you can plug your genre, wordcount, and how much you’d like to be paid, into, and it will spit out a list of suitable publications. http://www.duotrope.com/
I have 30 to 40 some odd poems and songs. Most of them are about love. How do I get publish them together in an anthology? I already know Poetry.com is a scam. Where can I find a list of legitimate publishers? How do I get my writings copy righted?
An anthology is a collection of work by many different writers. It doesn’t look like that’s what you’re really interested in. You want to publish just your own poems. Don’t start by trying to publish a book of poems. Instead, start by submitting your poems one at a time or a few at a time to print and online magazines. You can find information about magazines that publish poetry in the book "Poet’s Market" and at this website:

Under U.S. law, you already own the copyright to anything you’ve written. You’ve owned the copyright to each poem from the minute you wrote it. You can pay to register your copyright, but that often isn’t necessary. For complete information on U.S. copyright law, take a look at this site:

I wrote a poem and entered it in a amauter’s contest. I received an award . I lost my copy of the poem. It was suppose to be published in an anthology with The World of Poetry in Sacramento,CA in 1987. The editors are Eddie-lou Cole and John Campbell. I have searched many books and anthologies. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I found the book online, there are many kinds of prices, you can choose the one appropriate for you:

good luck:)
Say I cite from three different entries in an anthology, do I need to cite each individual entry in my bibliography?
You need to cite each individual work, so as to give credit to both the author of the specific work and the anthology’s compiler.
How do I cite an introductory paragraph with no one author (in-text & works cited) from the Norton Anthology (edition 8)? How do I cite a specific work within the Anthology?
No Author. The Norton Anthology of English Literature. the publisher, date, and etc.
The name of the book in Italics.
I am writing an analysis of Beowulf and am quoting from the version I have in Norton’s Anthology of British Literature, Eighth Edition, Vol 1.
Any links to website that could show me how to put this in my bibliography? Thanks.

and just fill everything in
I am interested in self publishing a short story anthology with a few friends, and we have a few questions that we can’t seem to find answers to anywhere. (It may be that we’re looking in the wrong places.)
1.) Does each short story need its own ISBN number?
2.) Does each short story need to have an official copyright?
3.) Do we have to go through a publishing house, or can we compile it by ourselves and use an independent printing company/website?
1. No. ISBN numbers are for whole books, not for the individual stories in an anthology.
2. The copyright of a short story automatically belongs to the writer, so you would need their official permission to reproduce it in your anthology.
3. If you’re self-publishing, the two options you’ve given amount to the same thing. All a self-publishing company does is, basically, type-set and print your book for you at your expense, just like a printer would. They may also offer proof-reading/design services at additional expense – but then, so would a design/print company.
For my 8th grade summer project, I have to put together an anthology of poetry. The poems have to be by a published author. What are some good websites that have a nice selection of poems? Also, the poems I use have to have a common theme, so what would some ideas be for themes? Thanks!
The Internet probably isn’t the best place to look for published poetry, because putting it on the internet infringes on the poem’s copyright, so it’s not legal. There won’t be all that many sites out there with the sort of thing your looking for.
You’d be better off going to the library or a cheap second-hand bookshop and taking out a couple of poetry books, flicking through them manually and cherry-picking the ones with that best fit your chosen theme.
As for ideas for themes, try:
1. Death
2. Sacrifice
3. Dreams
4. Time
5. Relationships
6. Loneliness
7. Bravery
8. Nature
9. Stories
or 10. Friendship
So there’s a few ideas. Also, any one of the seven virtues or seven deadly sins would be a good theme, (look them up if you don’t know what they are) and emotions make good themes too.
i hope i’ve helped.
I am writing a paper right now and need to use MLA to cite several different authors/stories from a large anthology. Can anyone help me out here?
Take a look at this example from the Diana Hacker site:

If you still have questions, dont’ forget to use your local public or college library as a resource. Many libraries now offer assistance through some form of chat/im service found on their websites.
