A great compilation, which aside from being very influential, is great music also. I’ve spent many a car trip listening to these songs. Not so sure about the murder and death ballads compilation he got, though.

i dont have that collection, but i do have all the songs you posted. looking at the track listing, i recognize about 30-40% of them, i wouldnt be surprised if i actually have about 70-80% of them. looks like a great collection. people need to pick this type of music up, much of it is still very fresh, especially if you dont mind a little of the old hiss and pop. edit: sal- would that be the "bad man ballads" from the alan lomax southern journey collections? i love that one.

I’m going to enjoy listening to the links you provided..

I don’t think you get XM/Sirius radio out where you are… but I’ve been really digging the Bob Dylan Theme Time radio show hosted by ole Zimmerman himself!

He spins stories and records.. everything from 70s pop to obscure big band recordings and old blues and folk lost classics… and do you know what? not a single song I went looking for from his show could I find on You Tube… but I found a couple of the artists…

You know me, I’m one of the few big folk fans on here. You introduced me to something I never checked out, thank you so much.
