Pick a topic you really enjoy. If these will be original poems, you’ll be spending a lot of time thinking and writing about the topic; if these will be collected, you will be reading many books and poems to find your subject matter.
Think about your audience. What topic will interest the readers.
Where those two trains of thought intersect, you will find your answer.
