Separate but equal, where have I heard that before? The blacks can’t mingle with the whites, the rich can’t marry the poor. Such blatant discrimination always makes my insides roar!

I enjoy writing poetry and I have already published two poetry anthologies, since the filming of this particular video.

Poetry Flash Presents The Wind Shifts: New Latino Poetry. An anthology reading with the editor, Francisco Aragón, and contributing poets Venessa Fuentes, Adela Najarro, Paul Martínez Pompa, and John Olivares Espinoza.

This reading celebrates The Wind Shifts, the anthology edited by Francisco Aragón with a Foreword by Juan Felipe Herrera, and published by the University of Arizona Press.

John Olivares Espinoza’s first full-length book of poetry is The Date Fruit Elegies; he’s appeared in many journals and anthologies, most recently in The Bear Flag Republic: Prose Poems from California.

Best general poetry anthology?

I was browsing Amazon but there is large discrepancy over the integrity of different collections. Would someone with the requisite knowledge be as kind to point out the prime choice for someone relatively infantile in their indulgence of poetry. I understand one issue might be how recent the work is, this can sway my opinion if there is too big of a trade-off in contemporary poets crowding classics out. Thanks.
Note: I was eying ‘The Oxford Book of English Verse’.
Also the Norton Anthology.

"Oxford" would be a good choice. "The Norton Anthology of Poetry" is also good. Some hands-on browsing at your local library or bookstore might help you decide. You can also ask for advice from a teacher or librarian you trust.

This is my original poetry piece to be published in my upcoming poetry anthology, “PhilosoFlow”. I decided to revisit “Separate But Equal” but in a kinder, softer way. (Thanks for the idea depfox! )

If I can encourage just one person to free his or her mind from false ancient beliefs that bind, then I have done my job.

For english I had to make a themed poetry anthology. My theme was teeth. Y’know like the dentist and the tooth fairy and all that. Now comes the hard part. I have to give my anthology a name. Any ideas?
