    I remember hearing this version when it was on Soul Train and it stuck in my mind. And every now and then I think of it, mostly today because one of the young brothers on my job doesn’t know how to get a girlfriend. I told him I would send him a song.     Planned It” LP. Before the “Magic” LP, they released an LP “Back Where I Belong” on the Motown label.

    They recorded a great album for ABC in 1978 with Philly producer Norman Harris called ‘At The Top’. The hit that was taken from that LP was H.E.L.P., but every track is a winner on that record.

    Ain’t No Woman was the biggest hit, but not the only one on ABC…They had “Are You Man Enough”, “Keeper of the Castle”, “Sweet Understanding Love”, and “Catfish”…plus others that I can’t think of right now…I was around at the time and remember them well!…the hits, that is!!!!

    This song was originally a hit for Todd Rundgren and Runt back in 1971 before he went for a solo career with such hits like “Hello It’s Me” and “I Saw the Light”.

    This song was taken from the LP “Nature Planned It” and it was their last album for Motown before they went to ABC/Dunhill to release six albums from 1972 until 1976. One of them was their only hit “Ain’t No Woman (Like the One I Got)” in 1973. After that, they went to Casablanca in 1981 where they did “When She Was My Girl” and “I Believe in You and Me” until they went to Motown for a short period in 1985 for the LP “Magic”.
