Posted by admin on November 19th, 2009 and filed under poem anthology | 2 Comments »

My specific anthology is about winter and snow, I’m looking for a poem about that and over 30 lines but not too long. Url of poem would be greatly appreciated! also, anything else that you just enjoy id be willing to check out!

I love winter and snow :)

Here are two links with lists of poems on winter that you might want to look through. I looked through half of the poems on the first link and the longest poem was only 24 lines long.

    I’d suggest Robert Frost. Particularly I’d recommend "Stopping by the Woods".

    Or,

    Letter from Someplace Warm

    The skyline lights fall like gentle rain
    In drops and dribbles across city scape.
    It’s early winter, getting cold
    Freezing fast, more ice to scrape.

    The sidewalks are covered in grains of salt
    In preparation for the coming snow.
    The last birds winging south overhead;
    The squirrels scrounge the last nuts to stow.

    It’s winter in the northeast;
    The birds left me behind.
    I’m not a skier or a sledder,
    But I guess I don’t really mind.

    There’s hot chocolate in my mug
    And this year I have a warm winter coat.
    I got my snow tires put on early
    And the letters that you wrote.

    You say that it’s warm where you are
    And I don’t begrudge you that,
    But your smugness is kind of annoying
    And, by the way,
    …your swimsuit pictures make you look fat.

    (C) 2008

    By that other great northeastern poet, Nathan Smith, aka ‘Trollnate’. (Sorry about the gratuitous plug.)
